According to ESPN, Mike Tyson and Jake Paul spoke at a press conference on the final day of Fanatics Fest NYC, and Tyson was asked to explain why he took part in the fight despite his health concerns.

“Because I can. Who else can do it but me? Who else is he going to fight to make that happen? We just have to listen to the facts. We have a YouTuber fighting the greatest fighter that ever lived.” Said Tyson.

At the press conference, Tyson also mentioned that he started training again two or three weeks ago and stated that he was ready.

Tyson ended his career in 2005, but returned for an exhibition fight in 2020. Paul now has a record of 10-1. Before the fight against Tyson, he expressed his confidence and emphasized how much it would help him.

“Big moments, big pressure, big stages, one of the greatest ever, more experience than me, more fights than me, I'm going to learn a lot in this fight and through this training camp. So this will help me in my future fights and everything I want to achieve.” Said Paul.

Paul also offered verbal criticism, asking Tyson if his “belly hurt.” However, Tyson made it clear that he was feeling better after overcoming a minor setback.

“I had a little emergency. I was sick, but I'm getting better. I feel good,“Tyson said.
