Two drivers arrested in Miami-Dade and Broward for street hijacking

MIAMI – Late Saturday night, a street takeover occurred in northwest Miami-Dade County. Fans prepared a pit for the weirdos. There, police identified a white Chevrolet Camaro with an obscured license plate.

According to a police report, Jake Ross was driving the Camaro and doing donuts at the corner of Northwest 183 Street and Second Court when he sped away from officers with a police helicopter following him.

Ross, 22, of Sunrise, was riding with a passenger when he crashed into a fence near Weston Road and West State Road 84 in Broward County early Sunday morning. He was arrested by police, according to a police report.

Investigators reported that the arrest was part of an operation involving investigators from the Miami and Miami-Dade police departments aimed at preventing street takeovers. They reported that they issued 13 citations, seized two cars and arrested two suspects.

A detective arrested Jose Espinosa at around 2 a.m. Sunday at the corner of Northwest 103 Street and 22 Avenue. Detectives accused the Sunny Isles Beach resident of driving a black BMW 330i with a white bumper to several street robberies.

Investigators said they shared videos on Instagram showing Espinosa, 19, making donuts at the Spinner boxes on the corner of Northwest 37th and 25th Streets on May 28 and on the corner of Northwest 215th Street and 47th Avenue on August 5.
