Former NFL player with Massachusetts ties arrested after flight diverted to Boston – Boston 25 News

BOSTON – Former NFL first-round draft pick and Boston College standout Gosder Cherilus was arrested for causing a disturbance on a flight back to Boston Saturday night, police said.

According to Massachusetts State Police, Cherilus was arrested by police for disrupting the flight crew and disorderly conduct on a Delta flight to Dublin, Ireland, after the plane was diverted to Logan Airport.

A law enforcement source told 25 Investigates that the 17th pick in the 2008 NFL Draft is accused of urinating on another passenger.

“Delta flight 154 from Boston to Dublin on August 17 returned to Boston Logan due to an unruly passenger and was met by police,” a Delta spokesperson told Boston 25 News. “Delta does not tolerate any unlawful behavior and will cooperate with police in this regard. We apologize to our customers for the delay to their travel.”

Cherilus played nine seasons in the NFL after spending his entire college career at Boston College.

The former offensive tackle started 116 of 132 games for the Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Cherilus retired from the NFL after the 2016 season.

The passengers of the canceled flight boarded a plane on Sunday evening that was scheduled to land in Dublin on Monday morning, a Delta spokesman said.

Cherilus is scheduled to be arraigned in East Boston District Court on Monday.

This is a developing story. Check back later for updates as more information becomes available.
