Takeover operations at Miami-Dade intersection end with two arrests – NBC 6 South Florida

A weekend operation aimed at occupying intersections in Miami-Dade County resulted in two arrests and one accident.

Detectives from the Miami-Dade Police Department's Homeland Security Bureau (HSB) joined forces with the City of Miami Police Department for Saturday's operation, which resulted in 13 citations, the seizure of three vehicles and two men behind bars.

Jake Ross, 22, and Jose Espinosa, 19, face several charges, including drag racing.

Ross is also charged with fleeing and eluding police and resisting an officer without violence. Espinosa is additionally charged with reckless driving.

Police identified Ross as the driver of a white Chevrolet Camaro that was involved in illegal activities, such as selling donuts, during one of the takeovers and had an obscured license plate, according to police.

When officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, Ross sped off and later, losing control, crashed into a fence, police added. He was uninjured and was taken to the TGK.

Anyone with information about these activities is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers (305-471-TIPS), where they can remain anonymous.
