Charlotte Awbery is probably not a name you immediately recognize, but you know her face – and certainly her voice too.

The singer-songwriter became an internet sensation during the pandemic after going viral by filming himself in the subway station.

In 2020, the Brit was asked to complete the lyrics to Lady Gaga's song “Shallow” and practically overnight gained a legion of fans and – perhaps more importantly – was given the title of “Queen of Gays”.

After her viral moment, Charlotte even released an official Shallow music video and was called an “inspiration” by many.

She continued to post cover versions on social media and submitted a song to the Eurovision Song Contest last year.

But Charlotte's internet fame is far from over, oh no.

In fact, it all started again with a clip in which she does mega numbers on X.

User fathrfigvre from Houston, Texas, shared the photo with the caption, “Is it me or does she have a 70's face? The kind of face a celebrity would have had in the 70's.”

His tweet was accompanied by a video of Charlotte, wearing a stunning blue dress and curly blonde hair, sitting with friends at a wedding reception and belting out Alicia Keys' “If I Ain't Got You.”

It didn't take long for people to realize where they knew her from, as the original post was viewed over 13 million times.

_JamesGtfo joked that we seemed to have travelled back in time, writing: “Global pandemic, US election year, Lady Gaga releasing music, Charlotte Awbery going viral. Welcome back, 2020.”

“is that the subway girl with the caption 'I AM DEVIL'????” asked chattyreality.

“Wait, isn't that the woman on the subway who screamed loudly for a silly TikTok and it went viral,” reyhospacebitch repeated.

However, not everyone was so excited to see her in their timeline, as Charlotte's revival seems to come at a rather eerie time.

“Monkeypox was declared a pandemic and we got Charlotte Awbery singing again,” Monteverdy wrote.

“The last time she went viral, we were in lockdown. Please bring her back,” Graceism_ explained.

It turns out that the video was originally shared on Charlotte's Instagram page, where she has a whopping 470,000 followers.

“I love this song! Xx,” she wrote in the caption two days ago, obviously not knowing how viral her cover would go again.

Soon, comments began pouring in, celebrating her as “our subway queen” and praising her “absolutely beautiful voice.”

Charlotte has continued to perform regularly since her TikTok success four years ago.

She seems to be a regular at Pizza Express Live in Chelsea and released her own song called “Serenity” in May.

She has also participated in Britney Spears-inspired fashion shows and regularly uploads glamorous snaps from her travels.

When she previously spoke about her unexpected fame, the singer Metro.de that Gaga unfortunately had not made contact despite millions of viewers of her “Shallow” cover.

“No, she is [Lady Gaga] had no contact,” Charlotte told us.

“I don't know if she saw it. She must be so busy, you know?

“She releases this single (Stupid Love) and doesn't even think about Charlotte from Romford. She's so busy!”

Charlotte also made it clear that she had no intention of being an impersonator.

“Look, I'm not Lady Gaga,” she explained. “I'm not trying to replace Lady Gaga. I'm Charlotte.”

“I'm a huge fan of Lady Gaga, I love her… but I am who I am.”

When asked what she hopes for the future after the huge increase in her follower count, Charlotte said she would “like to be taken seriously as an artist.”

“If people like my music and I talk to some record labels… fingers crossed I'll see what comes of it.”

“My dream is to show my own music, not to compete with Lady Gaga.”
