ROXBURY – Five people were injured in a shooting near Boston's Franklin Park Sunday night during a gathering following the Dominican Day Parade and Festival.

Police said they heard multiple gunshots just before 9 p.m. on Circuit Drive in Roxbury, where a large crowd had gathered. Five victims, three men and two women, were found and taken to the hospital. All victims have non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to recover.

There were no arrests. Boston Police Commissioner Michael called the shooting “senseless” after a successful parade on Sunday.

“Sometimes it's really hard to stop something when someone is determined to do something stupid,” Cox said. “The fact is we have a lot of officers in the park. In fact, we were just helping people get through the evening when this happened. So we need the public's help here too. Holding these people accountable is a good way to make sure this person doesn't do something like this again.”

Cox is asking anyone with video of the shooting or other information to contact police.
