Millbrook police officer delivers groceries to grateful woman after Instacart driver arrested

Posted:

A Millbrook police officer went above and beyond the call of duty to help with a special delivery. Sairy Neal lives in Prattville and works as a dispatcher for the National Forests. Neal said she was tired after work Saturday night, so instead of going to the supermarket, she ordered groceries through Instacart. She was surprised when a Millbrook police officer, identified only as Officer Young, knocked on her door. And here's the thing – he was there to deliver her groceries! Neal said Officer Young told her that her Instacart driver had been arrested on a warrant. Officer Young wanted to make sure the groceries that were in his car were delivered.

“That was just an incredible surprise that this officer took the time to come to my house and bring me my groceries! My sprinkler system was on and he walked through the sprinkler system. I came to my front door. He had actually taken the time to organize everything, including the eggs and the bread, to make sure everything was safe and stayed cool. And then he helped me bring all my groceries to my front door. And I really want to express my gratitude to Officer Young. And I'm very grateful that he took the time. For a Millbrook police officer to drive all the way to Prattville to deliver groceries is awesome, that's unbelievable,” said Sairy Head Neal.

Neal and her husband moved here from New Mexico just three months ago, and she says this kind gesture makes her appreciate the Southern hospitality here in Alabama even more.
