1 dead and 7 injured in shooting at rally in Baltimore, police say

One man was killed and seven people were hospitalized with injuries in a shooting in Baltimore on Sunday evening, police said.

Baltimore Police Chief Richard Worley described the dead man as a 36-year-old man. The injured included six other men and a woman between the ages of 22 and 45, he said.

The condition of some victims was critical, Worley said, but others had stabilized.

The violence was reported shortly after 8 p.m. at a gathering in the 1300 block of Spring Street, Worley said. “At one point it looked like several people opened fire,” he said.

He said investigators had seized several weapons and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was assisting in the investigation.

Despite rain in the area, Worley said police were quickly on the scene and were able to collect and mark possible evidence.

“We have a lot of evidence,” he said, “and we're looking for a lot of video footage.”

No suspects were described.
