Ice is a versatile kitchen item. It can be used in many ways, from keeping ingredients fresh to instantly chilling drinks. Recently, a viral video featured a content creator showing off her collection of different unique types of ice cubes. In the Instagram video shared by @nalae.co, the vlogger flaunts the different types of ice neatly sorted in her freezer. The video starts with the caption, “When people ask me why I have more than 15 different types of ice cubes.” She then goes through the different drinks she usually drinks in a day, each of them in a beautiful glass. This is also her way of summarizing her fluid intake for the day.

The first ice cube she shows off is for her “morning ginger tea,” which she says improves gut health and provides antioxidants. For her water bottle, she uses long, narrow ice cubes, while block-shaped cubes are reserved for smoothies. For her iced coffee, matcha latte, and black sesame latte, she has three different types of ice cubes specifically for each drink. She also makes a mocktail with small round ice cubes and keeps fruit-infused cubes for her cocktails. For sparkling water, she opts for slightly larger round cubes. Fun flower- and animal-shaped cubes are reserved for cocktails. In addition, the content creator has soup cubes in her freezer that she uses to make a healthy soup in a snap. And finally, she even has ice cubes for her dog.

The caption of her post read: “I truly believe that using different shapes and types of ice really enhances any drinking experience. They're great for cocktails, coffee, water bottles, whatever. I also think that they don't always have to be pretty and aesthetically pleasing, but there are so many useful types of ice you can make that are convenient and save time! I started doing this a few years ago and I still really enjoy it!!”

People shared their thoughts in the comments section, with one user saying, “This actually makes sense. This is just food prep… but aesthetically?”

Another said: “At first I was like 'ok, this is so over the top and unnecessary' but after a few seconds, honestly… I can't even be mad lol. Who likes watered down drinks? If I had the space and time, I would do that too. I think that's great for you.”

Someone compared ice cube storage to food prep, writing, “It's like food prep, but for drinks (and soups/smoothies, of course).”

While some criticized the content creator for her overconsumption, several others defended her. One user wrote: “I don't understand why people complain about overconsumption. These ice cubes are mostly made of water or food scraps, last a very long time, are cheap, and the cube molds are reusable forever.”

Many praised the vlogger for the creative idea. There were comments like: “Wait a minute, the smoothie is brilliant, how do I do that?”

One user asked, “I don't understand how this is overuse if she uses every single one of them?”

Several others expressed their appreciation with red heart and heart-eye emojis.
