BOSTON – Gosder Cherilus, a former NFL offensive lineman and Boston College football star, is accused of urinating on another passenger on a Delta Air Lines flight.

Cherilus, 40, of Wakefield, Massachusetts, is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in East Boston District Court.

Massachusetts State Police were called to Boston's Logan Airport around 2 a.m. Sunday after Delta Flight 154 from Boston to Dublin, Ireland, returned to the airport. In a statement, police said the flight was diverted “due to an unruly passenger urinating on another passenger on board.”

They identified the passenger as Cherilus.

“Officers verbally ordered Cherilus to exit the aircraft, but he reacted angrily and refused to cooperate. Officers eventually escorted Cherilus to the jetway and arrested him for disturbing the peace and disturbing the flight crew,” the police statement said.

Who is Gosder Cherilus?

Cherilus was an offensive tackle at Boston College for three years, from 2005 to 2007. He was drafted 17th overall by the Detroit Lions in 2008. He played five seasons in Detroit, two in Indianapolis with the Colts and two more with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before retiring after the 2016 season.

“Delta has zero tolerance for illegal behavior and will cooperate with law enforcement to that end. We apologize to our customers for the delay to their travel,” a Delta spokesperson said in a statement to WBZ-TV.

The passengers were rebooked on another flight to Dublin.

Further information about the incident is expected to be released in court on Monday.
