17 jobs that people think are just not worth the money

Have you ever wondered “You couldn’t pay me for this work?”

For some, that might be a job as a teacher. For others, it might be a job in retail.

These aren't judgments or criticisms of any particular profession. It's just that some people can't imagine being in public all day, dealing with young children, or having the killer instinct to sell on commission. Not to mention the physical and emotional toll some jobs take.

So there was a wide range of responses when Reddit users @abashedpeter asked:

What job would you never accept (regardless of the salary)?

1.

Sewer diving or whatever it's called. The guys who literally dive into shit to repair/maintain the sewer system. I don't mean to badmouth them at all, but I just could NOT do it.

2.

“Not below me, but above me. Those guys who free climb and change the lights on transmission towers. Pays really well. No thanks.”
– SophisticatedSophh

3.

“Cave diving jobs. Nothing in the world will ever make me want to travel through a claustrophobic cave and risk my life.”
-SenpaiHentai013

4.

“Euthanizing unwanted animals in animal shelters.”

“About three weeks ago, I went with my girlfriend to euthanize her 20-year-old cat, who was literally months away from her 21st birthday. I've never been a huge cat person, but we decided to be there when they put him down. I have to tell you, I cried like a little girl when they put him down. I really don't know how vets can do this on a regular basis without burning out.”

5.

“Working in a slaughterhouse. I just don't believe it's possible to kill animals on an industrial scale every day without it being stressful.”
-DeliciousDark

6.

“No job in the oil industry on the high seas or no cruise ship can afford to be away from your family and miss out on life for a few more dollars.”
Impact Locksmith-3

7.

“Window cleaners on skyscrapers. Just no.”
-AlternativeCry2206

8.

“A friend of mine is an executive admin for three C-level executives. I used to be jealous of her salary (about $90,000 after bonuses), but then I realized she wasn't taking control of her life.”

“We were all out around midnight on a Saturday and she got a call from one of them asking if so-and-so had sent a certain email yet. That's when I realized there wasn't enough money in the world to make me do it, and even if there was enough money, I wouldn't last a week.”

“[US President] No matter what you do, at least half the country hates you personally. You have to make life and death decisions, and while I'm not sure of this, I suspect there are people who will kill you and everyone you love if you don't do what they say and make it look like a fluke or accident. Yeah, no thanks.”
