1 dead in suspected drunk driving crash in Madera County, officials say

One person was killed in a suspected alcohol-related accident in Madera County.

MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — One person was killed in a suspected alcohol-related accident in Madera County.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred after 11 p.m. Sunday on Highway 145 near Toja Road east of Madera.

According to officials, the driver of a Dodge Charger was traveling west on the highway when he veered into the eastbound lane and collided with a Ford truck.

The driver of the Ford died at the scene of the accident.

After the first impact, officials said a Nissan Rogue collided with the Dodge.

The Nissan then skidded and was hit by a Toyota Prius, while a Dodge pickup truck hit the Charger in the middle of the road.

The Charger caught fire, but officers were able to rescue the driver.

The drivers of the other cars suffered minor injuries.
