Fact check: Is Travis Kelce really leaving the Chiefs? Viral rumors before the NFL season

Travis Kelce is in a long-distance relationship with Taylor Swift as they both continue to juggle their hectic schedules. While the Kansas City Chiefs star prepares for the upcoming NFL season, his global star love is busy with her record-breaking Eras Tour.

Amidst this, there are rumors that the tight end might leave the Chiefs as they prepare for a third consecutive win this season. There is no evidence to support this claim and the player has also signed a new contract with the franchise. It all started when the 34-year-old stated that he would like to play in London.

The news left fans worried about his future with the franchise that helped Travis win the Lombardi Trophy for the second consecutive year. Earlier this year, Kelce stated on an episode of New Heights that he would only leave the Chiefs for one team while they were in London.

Kelce said, “I'm waiting for this team to play for a team other than the Chiefs.” He added, “That's the only way I can play overseas.”

The podcast's official site posted the clip on X (formerly Twitter) and Travis responded on his social media account: “Let's be honest, I would never leave the Chiefs… but playing in London sounds fun.”

The three-time Super Bowl champion's comments drew several suggestions and comments, with one user writing: “Why not Toronto instead? There's a market for that… And there's no ocean separating them from the rest of the league.”

Another wrote: “Come to Brazil instead.”

One fan compared it to Taylor Swift's song “London Boy.”

Another fan commented, “You will leave the Chiefs and retire with the Browns.”

One wrote: “Well you've already performed at Wembley this summer. Now you just need to put a team together.”

Another Taylor Swift reference is: “Karma is the guy with the Chiefs; don't worry, we know it.”

In case fans are worried, Travis Kelce has no plans to leave the Chiefs after his comments about his play in London, especially after the new contract he signed with the franchise. After the contract, Travis Kelce became the highest-paid tight end in football.

The American football player visited London this year when he attended the Eras Tour concert and performed on stage at Wembley Stadium. It was Travis' debut performance at Swift's concert that left fans completely ecstatic with surprise.

Kelce brought his multiple Grammy winner into the studio to perform her song “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart.” The last time they were photographed together in public was at their show in Germany, when the two waved to their fans.

This was the last concert Travis attended before his busy schedule forced him to head to Kansas City to prepare for the upcoming NFL season and the start of their long-distance relationship.

The defending champions, meanwhile, are fully focused on bringing home the Lombardi Trophy for the third consecutive year, making the Chiefs the only franchise to win three Super Bowls in a row.
