The Batman franchise was renamed “Batman Epic Crime Saga.”

When it comes to shared universes, you need a name for your franchise that will sell your brand immediately. However, in the beginning, you may need to keep the “universes” brand until you have a thorough plan, and not announce your slate of films or series before the release of your first project (like with Dark Universe).

As for the DC Elseworlds franchise, which this author referred to as “The Batman Universe,” it focuses on characters specific to Batman and his environment that Matt Reeves The Batman is part of the upcoming Max series, The Penguinfinally has a name for this franchise and according to IGN it is called “The Batman Epic Crime Saga”.

In addition to the previous and upcoming entries I mentioned under the DC Elseworlds banner, there are The Batman – Part IIwhich is set to hit theaters on October 2, 2026. It was announced that both the Arkham and Gotham PD series were canceled. Despite this, it was stated that elements from Gotham PD found their way into the Max series. penguinwill be released on September 19th.

Another TV show is in the pipeline, and Reeves' producing partner Dylan Clark is working with his film and TV production company 6th and Idaho. Of the new project currently in the works, Clark says: “We're looking at this whole world in the context of Batman – the antagonists around him, all the crime that's going on in the city – and trying to figure out what areas are best to explore,” Clark said.

We are not sure what will happen next with the Batman Epic Crime Saga The Batman – Part IIbut all we know is that HBO executives want Reeves, Clark and Lauren LeFranc to focus more on some of the “star characters.”
