Reston man arrested for five burglaries and robberies in Fairfax City

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — A 45-year-old Reston man was arrested Friday in connection with a series of robberies that occurred in Fairfax City earlier this month, according to Fairfax City Police.

According to police, officers responded to a report of a robbery at Halalway Supermarket at 4072 Jermantown Road around 8:45 a.m. on August 8. Investigators found that a man had forced his way into the store and stolen money.

In the second incident, officers responded to an alarm at the Shell gas station at 11175 Lee Highway at 3:34 a.m. on Aug. 12. A preliminary investigation revealed that a man forced his way into the store and caused damage, police said.

On August 13, three businesses on Jermantown Road in Fairfax City reported that a man had broken into their buildings and stolen money. The robberies occurred in the same area as the first two burglaries:

  • Woodlands Restaurant, 4078 Jermantown Road
  • Il Poom Hyang Restaurant, 4068 Jermantown Road
  • Dairy Queen, 4079 Jermantown Road

During their investigation, detectives identified 45-year-old Fawad Fafa of the 11500 block of Woodhollow Court in Reston as a suspect in the case. Police arrested Fafa on Friday and served him with five warrants for burglary. He was held without bail at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

According to court records, Fafa has been arrested multiple times since 2001 for a variety of crimes, including petty theft, grand theft and criminal damage.

Fafa's most recent court appearance was a July 11 hearing in Fairfax County District Court on charges of entering a dwelling to commit theft, assault or other crimes, court records show. Fafa pleaded guilty and agreed to pay $300 in restitution to the victim.
