Coroner: Lehigh County teenager dies in campfire incident

An Emmaus teenager has died of burns as a result of a campfire incident at a private home, the Lehigh County Coroner's Office said.

The medical examiner's office identified the teenager as 18-year-old Julian Diaz. He was pronounced dead shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Salisbury Township.

Diaz died from burns to 84% of his body caused by the fire. Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio ruled the cause of death an accident.

The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 5000 block of South Mountain Drive in Upper Milford. Diaz suffered burns after the campfire was ignited with gasoline, Buglio said.
