Michael Keaton doesn't care that “Batgirl” wasn't released

A year or two ago, it looked like Michael Keaton was on the verge of a full-fledged and long-term comeback as the new (old) Batman. He played an older version of the character in The Flashand then filmed a similar supporting role in HBO Max' Batgirl film. For a moment, it seemed as if Keaton was ready to become DC's version of Nick Fury; the older, seasoned hero who takes no nonsense and helps new heroes find their place in the universe.

That changed overnight when James Gunn and Peter Safran were hired as the new CEOs of DC Studios. The Flash was heavily reworked in reshoots and Keaton – who according to various reports was originally supposed to survive the film – was eventually killed. And then Batgirl was also cancelled in the end – by DC and Warner Bros. Discovery, who put the film on ice because they wanted to write it off for tax purposes. Suddenly, Michael Keaton's Batman was completely taken off the program again. And no one I saw what he did in the second of his two big older Batman movies.

And how does Keaton feel about it? Surprisingly good, actually! Keaton told GQ that he “doesn’t care” whether Batgirl ever saw the light of day. For him, the situation was a “big, fun, beautiful check.”

And then, by GQKeaton began “rubbing his fingers together in the universal gesture for 'coal.'”

Keaton noted that he liked the directors of BatgirlAdil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, called them “nice guys”.

“I'm rooting for them. I want them to succeed. And I think they felt very bad and that made me feel bad,” he added. As for himself, however, he noted, “I'm fine.”

The only reasonable reaction to such a quote is to step back and admire the honesty of it all – and perhaps reflect on this quote from Krusty the Clown from The Simpsons.

Keaton can next be seen in Beetlejuice Beetlejuicewhich is scheduled to hit theaters on September 6th.

Movies that everyone loves but are actually bad

Sorry, folks. We just can't agree with the general opinion on these popular but not so great movies.
