A woman dies in an accident in San José

According to San Jose police, a woman died early Monday morning after being hit by a car in south San Jose.

The accident occurred near Snell Avenue and Capitol Expressway. The pedestrian who was struck in the accident was taken to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

According to police, the driver remained at the scene of the accident and is cooperating with the investigation. Roads near the accident scene were closed early Monday morning while police investigated.

This means that 32 people have already died in car accidents in the city of San Jose this year. Less than two weeks ago, a young boy was killed while riding a scooter on the streets of San Jose.

Earlier this summer, KTVU spoke with a family whose child was also hit by a car while walking in San Jose. His family told KTVU they hope more is done to improve safety on the streets, especially for pedestrians.
