Dump truck driver hospitalized after accident on Turnpike near Medley

MIAMI DADE COUNTY, Florida. – Paramedics took a dump truck driver to the hospital after an accident on the Florida Turnpike in northwest Miami-Dade late Monday morning.

The accident occurred around 11 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the Turnpike near Northwest 106th Street, west of Medley.

Images from traffic cameras showed that the truck had tipped over on its side.

According to the district fire department, rescue workers freed the driver from the dump truck.

He or she was taken to a local hospital, a Miami-Dade Fire Department spokesman said. Officials had not released any further details on his or her condition as of about 11:35 a.m.

The accident closed the left lanes of the turnpike while authorities investigated and cleaned up a fuel leak.
