Amber Alert suspect accused of kidnapping children and killing one in a car crash in Maryland waives extradition

The Virginia Beach, Virginia, man who led police on a multi-state chase after stabbing the mother of his children and fleeing with three of them is waiving extradition while he awaits his court date, 7News has learned.

On Monday, Dana Demetrius Plummer appeared in court and told officials he would not contest his transfer back to Virginia, where he faces assault and kidnapping charges, according to court documents obtained by 7News Maryland bureau chief Brad Bell.

Plummer has been in custody since Thursday after authorities say he led Virginia State Police on a chase that ended on the outer loop of I-95 in Prince George's County.

There were three children in the car at the time of the crash who were subject to an AMBER Alert from Virginia Beach and were all under the age of 7. The youngest person in the car was a 16-month-old girl who was flown by helicopter to Children's National Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, following the chase and subsequent crash at Exit 7 (Route 5/Branch Avenue).

Hours before that chase, police said he stabbed the mother of his children and a little girl in their home in the 900 block of Jay Are Court, sending both to the hospital Wednesday night.
