Jayson Tatum recreates viral photo from his high school days

Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum and Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk share a friendship that goes back to high school. On Sunday, they took a trip into the Wayback Machine at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.

Tatum and Tkachuk, who both attended Chaminade College Preparatory School in St. Louis, returned to the city to throw out the first pitch before the Cardinals' game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

However, the viral moment occurred during the game when the duo recreated a viral photo of themselves as students at the school during Sunday's game.

This time, however, they are both the star players of their respective teams, having both won the championship in 2024 after the Celtics knocked off the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals and the Panthers kept the Edmonton Oilers at bay in the Stanley Cup Final.

Tkachuk left Chaminade in ninth grade to join the U.S. National Team Development Program, but remained friends with Tatum, and the two cheered each other on at their respective championship matches this summer.

“Yeah, when you think about it, it's actually pretty cool,” Tkachuk told NHL.com's Tracey Myers in June. “Anyone from St. Louis, whether they wanted to watch or not, since we were both there, I would say a lot of people, especially the kids we grew up with and families and people that know us, root for both teams. It's super cool to have that support at home, not just for me, but for the Celtics.”
