One person injured in shooting in North Charleston on Saturday afternoon

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – North Charleston police are investigating a shooting that the victim said occurred near a middle school parking lot.

According to an incident report, police responded to the Louise Drive area around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday after receiving reports of a shooting.

Just minutes earlier, they had received a call reporting gunshots near Morningside Middle School on Leeds Avenue, the report said.

When police found the victim at his home on Louise Drive, he told officers he had been shot in the school parking lot.

“The victim was not cooperative with officers,” the report said, aside from saying he was shot near the school parking lot. Police said they did not find any shell casings inside the school, but shell casings were found near the intersection of Martha Drive and Peacock Avenue.

They also discovered a bullet hole and some blood on the driver's door of the victim's silver Audi sedan.

With his permission, police conducted a security search of the victim's home and found two guns in a bedroom, the report said.

The emergency services took the victim to a nearby hospital, police said.

A witness later told police it appeared as though an older red Kia Sorento had been chasing the silver Audi. The witness said the Sorento was last seen on Leeds Avenue as it turned onto Dorchester Road.

According to police, no arrests have been made so far.
