Detectives catch suspected drug dealer and take him to prison – Douglas Now

Late last month, detectives with the Coffee County Drug Enforcement Agency arrested two people who allegedly sold Schedule IV drugs from a Woodpecker Trail address. One of the suspects, Hershel Tyre, was arrested and detained, while the other suspect, Tim Shatto, was released without charge.

According to a sheriff's office report, officers were ready to arrest the two after they sold the drugs – 200 alprazolam tablets – for $400 on July 30, 2024. The next day, detectives saw Tyre and Shatto sitting on a bench in Wheeler Park. Detectives arrested the suspects and took them to the Woodpecker Trail location to execute a search warrant. During the search, one of the detectives found a box in the ceiling that contained suspected methamphetamine, the report said.

Both were arrested and taken to the sheriff's office. During questioning, Tyre admitted that the drugs were his, the report states. He also stated that he was the one who sold the 200 pills, the report states. As a result, Tyre was arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, sale of a Schedule III, IV or V controlled substance, and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a crime. He was booked into the Coffee County Jail and released.

Shatto was released without charge.
