Is the viral kiss cam moment from the Rams preseason game fake or real?

We've had a pretty clean preseason. It's been almost a nice, easy, relaxed month with no incidents or controversies that could have spoiled the last month of summer. The sun was shining, the Rams were playing football, and there was no mischief anywhere.

Then a kiss cam ruined it, like everything else. The list of reasons why kiss cams shouldn't exist is far longer than a single Ramblin' fan blog could ever contain – but if I had to name one main reason, “over-the-top attempt to go viral for no apparent reason” would be in the top three. We had one of those moments at the Rams' preseason game against the Chargers this weekend, and I'm only including the video because I think it's important for all of us to see what we're getting ourselves into by not banning kiss cams outright.

It's important to remember that the Chargers are the same team that may have hired a fan to go crazy at key spots in the stadium during games to create a viral moment. Their digital team is extremely tuned in, which is great during games/schedule announcements and extremely tired any other day of the year.

But yeah, that's fake. I guess I'll consider the idea that we really all just saw this man have the worst moment of his life during a preseason game – on camera – but that didn't happen, and actually I'm not going to consider that.

It's funny because they're fans of different LA teams! And that's why she doesn't love him! Nothing is more important to a football fan than his team! And hell yeah, of course he deserves a plate of nacho cheese right on his chest for not knowing that. What comically disastrous moments in this man's life! Surely there isn't a 55-year-old digital team director constantly hitting “reload” on this video's social media numbers.

I don't know what's more depressing: watching your proposal get rejected on the big screen at an NFL game, or staging a proposal because you think people will actually believe it.
