Norman man arrested for distributing child sexual abuse material

NORMAN, OKLAHOMA (KOKH) — On August 13, detectives with the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) arrested a Norman man for distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

This arrest was made by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) following an investigation that began in July 2024.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) received a CyberTip from Instagram regarding an Instagram account that had uploaded explicit material featuring a minor.

Christopher Smith, 37, was identified as the account holder based on the associated email addresses and IP addresses.

CCSO detectives and OKCPD arrested and questioned Smith after locating him in OKC.

Smith is charged with two counts of distribution of child pornography and violating Oklahoma's computer crimes law.
