Former NFL OT Gosder Cherilus arrested after allegedly urinating on passenger during flight: reports

Former NFL offensive lineman Gosder Cherilus was arrested Sunday after allegedly urinating on another passenger during a transatlantic flight, according to multiple reports.

Cherilus, 40, pleaded not guilty to charges of obstructing flight operations, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest at his arraignment Monday in East Boston District Court. He was reportedly released on $2,500 bail.

Cherilus declined to comment to reporters, but apologized in a statement sent to X on Monday.

“The flight was unexpectedly delayed by about four hours and did not take off until after 0:30 a.m. To prepare for the unexpected night flight, I took a sleeping pill that I do not normally take, which led to behavior that is not in keeping with my character. I would like to apologize to the passengers and the flight crew.”

According to reports, police were called to Logan Airport at 2 a.m. on Sunday after a Delta flight to Dublin was diverted to Boston because an “unruly” passenger urinated on another passenger.

According to a police report obtained by WBZ News, Cherilus appeared to be intoxicated when he arrived at the airport. Cherilus then argued with another passenger about seating arrangements before the flight took off. According to the WBZ News report, Cherilus later approached an elderly woman about an hour after takeoff, exposed himself, urinated on her and became angry when the flight crew tried to intervene.

According to reports, police later escorted Cherilus off the plane, arrested him and charged him.

Cherilus was selected in the first round of the 2008 draft by the Detroit Lions out of Boston College. He played five seasons with Detroit, two with the Indianapolis Colts and two with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, starting 116 games during that time.
