Apple has released a new version of iOS 17.6.1

Apple has released an updated version of iOS 17.6.1, which replaces the previous update iOS 17.6.1 released a week and a half ago. The new version has the build number 21G101 instead of 21G93.

According to the release notes, the new iOS 17.6.1 fixes a bug that prevented users from enabling or disabling Enhanced Privacy. The issue affected a small number of users and caused the iCloud Privacy feature to not work properly. Sometimes it would remain active even though it appeared to be turned off, or vice versa.

The fix includes important changes to ensure that Advanced Data Protection works properly. After installing the update, users will receive a confirmation of their actions regarding this feature if they were previously experiencing issues.

Apple also noted that even if Enhanced Privacy remained active when it should have been disabled, the level of security was not reduced. In fact, it may have been higher than expected.
