Gonzalez suffered serious injuries in the accident and was taken to hospital.

During their investigation, Fort Worth police determined that Gonzalez was driving at a high rate of speed while under the influence of alcohol.

After being released from the hospital, he was charged with five counts of vehicular manslaughter and one count of drunken driving. He is currently in jail awaiting further action.

The Fort Worth Police Department wants to make the public aware of the dangers of drinking and driving.

“This is happening too often, so we all need to do our part,” Daniel Segura, speaking on behalf of the Fort Worth Police Department, said in an interview with CBS News. “We need to work together as a community. Talk to your family members. If they leave the house, find a way home.”
