UPDATE: 2 dead in incident at North Andover home | News

NORTH ANDOVER – Two people were killed in an incident at a home at 201 Turnpike Street (Route 114) Monday evening, according to prosecutors.

According to District Attorney Paul Tucker, one person was found dead in the home, while the second person was seriously injured and later died at a nearby hospital.

Initial reports indicated that the two people involved were a mother and a small child, possibly a baby, and that a stabbing had taken place. The public prosecutor's office did not comment further, saying only that it was an “isolated incident” and that there was no danger to the public.

The public prosecutor's office announced the first death shortly before 7 p.m., the second only at around 9 p.m. The public prosecutor's office also announced that no further information would be released until further notice because the incident was still being investigated.

Police, firefighters and paramedics arrived at the house around 5:15 p.m.

No immediate arrest or search for a suspect was made, and police blocked off Turnpike Street. The intersection of Turnpike Street and Route 133 to the Bertucci intersection was blocked off while authorities continued their investigation.

State police officers and a crime scene investigation team were called to the home along with investigators from the District Attorney's Office.

Officers from the Andover Police Department, North Andover Police Department and Massachusetts State Police responded, lining the busy route during rush hour. An ambulance arrived at the home around 7 p.m.

Police put up crime scene tape around the front yard and two white cars, one of which was parked across the lawn next to the front door. Later, the crime scene was cordoned off with red crime scene tape across the parking lot to the left of the house.

Police gathered on the street while family members waited near the garage at the back of the house. The front door of the house was wide open.

Starting at 6 p.m. and continuing throughout the hour, more relatives began arriving. Family members were later taken to another location. A woman was heard crying and screaming hysterically outside the house.

A North Andover Fire Department ladder truck blocked the front of the house. Crowds tried to figure out what was happening across the street and waited outside the Burger King parking lot.

The police began to move people further back into the parking lot and asked them to show respect to those involved.

Officials at the scene declined to comment and said a statement would be released later. Authorities asked the public to stay away from the area while the investigation continues.

201 Turnpike St. is a seven-room, three-bedroom home that was last sold in November 2022, according to city surveyor records. The owner is listed as 201 Turnpike Street LLC.
