West Seattle Blog… | WEST SEATTLE CRIME WATCH: Skylark burglary, mail theft, gun arrests

Three more Criminal Police Reports:

Break-in at Skylark: The music venue/restaurant/bar at the north end of Delridge was broken into again on Sunday, the owner Matt Larson says WSB:

We got hit… again. The suspect pulled into the parking lot at 6:37 a.m. Sunday morning. He checked the front and then went to the back where he used a crowbar to open the back door.

He entered the building and stole the cash registers and casings, exited the building and disappeared within minutes. $700 worth of equipment and cash was stolen, and there was damage to the wiring and door which may need to be replaced (we had to replace the front door just a few months ago when they broke in and gained access to our ATM – good times).

The truck is quite unique and has been spotted in West Seattle, so hopefully someone is familiar with it or at least has noticed it. If anyone sees a few discarded cash registers – let us know!

The provisional police report number is T00008584.

Meanwhile, the SPD published two two-week-old case summaries on SPD extinguisher late today – neither of them were on our radar before, so here they are, FYI:

Arrest for mail theft: According to SPD, this started with 911 calls just before 1 a.m. on Aug. 7 reporting a man wearing a ski mask breaking into mailboxes in the 7900 block of SW 35th — eventually, they say, leaving seven victims. They found a 28-year-old man nearby who said he “was in possession of several pieces of evidence including stolen mail, suspected stolen bank cards, a metal crowbar and was concealing a loaded firearm. The man had an expired license to concealed carry a handgun and was not allowed to carry the weapon in that manner. The Beretta APX 9mm semi-automatic pistol was seized as evidence.” He was taken to jail. We won't be able to check his status until tomorrow, as we don't know his name and the release was too late in the day to check with prosecutors.

Arrest for attempted burglary: This also happened in the early morning of August 7, according to the SPD extinguisher Post. Around 2 a.m., police checked reports of possible shooting in the 9400 block of Delridge Way SW. They located the crime scene one block south, in unincorporated King County. They found a shell casing and a trail of blood. They then received a report of an attempted burglary at a home in the 8800 block of 16th SW and arrested a 32-year-old man nearby. He was carrying a 9mm handgun that police say was connected to the crime scene in unincorporated King County (and also to a murder victim in Federal Way). He was also taken to jail, and we hope to hear his status and the case against him tomorrow.
