Man from Charleroi arrested after stabbing

Charleroi police arrested a man on Sunday evening on suspicion of stabbing another man several times.

Samuel Junior Marcelin, 25, of Charleroi, is accused of aggravated assault. According to the indictment, police were called to the 500 block of Washington Avenue around 7 p.m.

In court documents, Marcelin is accused of stabbing Jacques Jackson in the back of the head and shoulder with a small folding knife.

Jackson, of Charleroi, was taken to Allegheny General Hospital where he received stitches.

Police arrested Marcelin on Cherry Street. He also faces charges of simple assault, possession of a murder weapon and disorderly conduct.

Marcelin was arraigned Monday morning before District Judge Joshua Kanalis, who remanded him in Washington County Jail without bail. According to online court records, Kanalis denied bail because Marcelin gave the judge a different address than the one he gave to police.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 29 at 10:15 a.m.
