SHE FACED UP TO 21 YEARS, WITH A MANDATORY SENTENCE OF 18 YEARS FOR THE SECOND OFFENSE. SMITH WAS ARRESTED AFTER HER GRANDSON WAS FOUND DEAD IN SEPTEMBER 2021. THE CHILD WAS ALSO FOUND TO HAVE DIED OBVIOUSLY
