Man dies in shooting in northwest Indianapolis

The shooting occurred around 3:30 a.m., just a few blocks south of Crown Hill.

INDIANAPOLIS – IMPD is investigating after a man was killed in a shooting in northwest Indy Tuesday morning.

On August 20, at around 3:30 a.m., officers responded to a report that a person had been shot in the 600 block of Udell Street, just a few blocks south of Crown Hill Cemetery.

When the police arrived at the scene, they found a man who had been shot. A few moments later, paramedics declared the victim dead.

The Marion County Coroner's Office will determine the man's identity once the family is notified.

“Indianapolis is once again waking up to a time of violence and it is heartbreaking,” said Drew Brown, IMPD spokesman.

Investigators do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the surrounding community related to the incident.
