Trump returns to Michigan to talk about crime and security

Former President Donald Trump returns to Michigan on Tuesday with a campaign stop in Howell.

Howell is located in deep-red Livingston County, where 60.5% of voters supported Trump four years ago, even though President Joe Biden won the state with 50.6%.

Republican turnout will be crucial to Republican prospects in Michigan this year. The average of Michigan voter polls compiled by political website 538 shows Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee, leading Trump by just over three percentage points statewide.

The Trump event is not a campaign rally, but a speech on crime and safety to be held at the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.

The Republican candidate's last visit to Michigan was about a month ago and included a stop in Grand Rapids with his running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance.
