Woman dead, man seriously injured in crash and vehicle fire on I-395 in Lisbon – NBC Connecticut

A woman has died and a man was seriously injured after an accident and vehicle fire occurred on Interstate 395 in Lisbon on Monday evening.

State police said a 34-year-old New London man was traveling on I-395 North between exits 18 and 19 around 10:15 p.m.

According to investigators, while driving the man veered off the right side of the road and crashed into a bridge pillar on the Preston Allen Road Overpass. After the collision, his vehicle caught fire.

A vehicle occupant, identified as 33-year-old Anjelly Berrios of Plainfield, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was taken to Backus Hospital for treatment of his serious injuries.

The Accident Analysis and Reconstruction Team arrived at the scene and continues to investigate the accident.
