Canelo Alvarez is extremely confident about his fight against Edgar Berlanga

With less than a month to go before Canelo Alvarez's return to the ring against Edgar Berlanga on September 14, Canelo speaks to TMZ Sports about his upcoming fight and his thoughts on the clash.

Canelo on the importance of fighting on Mexican holiday weekends

“For me it's always great to represent my country on these days. I always try to fight on these days because it's important for me and my Mexican fans. I'm happy to be here, to be able to fight in May and September and I feel very honored.”

How he sees Berlanga as a fighter

“He's good, he's strong, he's young, he's hungry. But this is nothing new for me. I've been there with all kinds of fighters, difficult fighters, strong fighters, and I'm just going to go in there and do my thing.”

About Berlanga’s power

“I'll find out on September 14th, but I'm strong. I'm strong and I'm going to do my best there and make him feel as much pain as possible. That's what I'm focused on.”

On Berlanga’s statement that he knocks out heavyweights in sparring

“Me too. I'm not a heavyweight, but I'm stronger than her.”

How long he thinks the fight will last

“I don't know how fast, but I'm going to do my job and try to make him feel so much pain that he can't take it anymore and then knock him out. I don't know in which round.

“He already knows and he's going to need a really good training camp, so I hope he prepares really well because he's going to need it.”
