Cassville teenager killed in tractor accident

CASSVILLE, Wis. (KCRG) – The Grant County Sheriff's Office in Wisconsin said a 17-year-old boy was killed in a tractor accident in front of his home.

The sheriff's office said it received a call about a tractor-trailer accident at 8620 Irish Ridge Road at 3:24 p.m. on August 16. When emergency responders arrived, they found Race Landon dead at the scene.

Investigators believe Landon was using a Ford 8N tractor to pull a tree that had fallen onto a driveway when the front of the tractor came up. The tractor tipped over backwards with Landon on it and he died.

A family member who came to the house noticed the accident and called 9-1-1.

According to an obituary, Landon was about to begin his senior year at Cassville High School. He had recently joined the U.S. Army and planned to go to basic training after graduating in May.

A wake for Landon will be held Thursday at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster, Wisconsin. A private burial will be held at a later date.
