Intermountain Gas Company submits proposal to reduce prices

BOISE, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT)– Intermountain Gas Company has filed its annual gas rate adjustment (PGA) with the Idaho Public Utilities Commission to reduce its rates by approximately $46.8 million. The proposal is due to over-collected gas costs from the previous PGA as well as a reduction in estimated costs for the coming year.

Intermountain does not make a profit on the cost of natural gas and the application ensures that the cost of natural gas is passed directly to customers. Residential customers could see an average monthly cost reduction of $6.69 and commercial customers could see a monthly cost reduction of $33.26.

The company has also applied to reduce its residential and commercial energy efficiency fees, which would reduce residential and commercial property prices by approximately $1.7 million.

If approved, both applications would take effect on October 1, 2024, and the combination of both would result in an average monthly reduction in costs of approximately $6.96 for residential customers and $34.35 for commercial customers. Because both applications are proposals, they are publicly available and can also be found on the gas company's website. Written comments on the applications can be submitted to the Commission or emailed to:
