Michigan doctor charged with multiple sex crimes after thousands of videos show him bullying children and adults

(CBS) – Oakland County officials announced that a Rochester Hills doctor has been charged in connection with multiple sex crimes against adults and children that occurred at his residence, workplaces and a swim club in Metro Detroit.

Oumair Aejaz, 40, of Rochester Hills, was charged with one count of child sexual abuse, four counts of taking an image of an unclothed person, five counts of child sexual abuse and five counts of using a computer to commit a crime.

Aejaz, married and father of two young children, is said to have installed hidden cameras in dressing rooms that filmed children aged two to adults.

According to Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard, the crimes range from videos of a toddler undressing in a swim club locker room to an unconscious woman lying in a hospital bed being abused by Aejaz.

Aejaz is an Indian citizen and has been working in the United States on a visa since 2011. He moved to Michigan in 2011, completed his residency at Sinai Grace, and moved to Alabama in 2018 before returning to Oakland County.

Officials say the crimes occurred in Rochester and Rochester Hills when Aejaz was off duty. Bouchard said cameras were placed in locker rooms, bathrooms, hospital rooms, closets, bedrooms and bathrooms in residences he had access to, including the Goldfish Swim Club in Rochester.

Bouchard says Aejaz's criminal activities date back at least six years.

Officials say Aejaz worked as a contract doctor and spent time at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc and Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, but investigators are still working to identify additional locations where he worked.

Aejaz was arrested on August 8 by Oakland County investigators executing a search warrant after his wife provided materials of concern to the sheriff's office. He is being held in the Oakland County Jail on $2 million bail.

Authorities have seized six computers, four cell phones and 15 external storage devices. One hard drive contained 13,000 videos. Investigators will review all data on these devices and also examine possible cloud storage.

“This person is possibly one of the worst I've ever seen because there's no specific category,” Bouchard said. “It's not just children, it's not just women. It's not just men. It ranges from a 2-year-old to a grown woman. The victimization is so broad and the perversion so great that we're only just beginning to understand it.”
