Officer acquitted after fatal shooting of woman in northeast Anchorage

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – According to the Office of Special Prosecutions, one of the police officers who responded to a disturbance in the Northeast Anchorage neighborhood in June did not violate regulations when he used deadly force against the suspect.

In a press release, the Office of Special Prosecutions cleared Sergeant John Butler of the Anchorage Police Department of any wrongdoing, stating that he “was legally justified in using deadly force against Ms. Fordyce-Blair after a 911 caller reported that Ms. Fordyce-Blair had threatened him with a rifle.”

Butler was outside Fordyce-Blair's house when she shot officers multiple times, police said.
