A series of promotional images for the iPhone 16 have reportedly leaked, revealing the launch of Apple's flagship smartphone in 2024.

As we get closer to the Apple event in September, more rumors are surfacing, including leaks of marketing material. In a post to X, one leaker claims this is what happened with the iPhone 16 series.

The four images posted by Lakhwinder Singh on Saturday appear to be marketing material intended for China, as one image shows the currency.

The first image is a short list of the iPhone 16's specs, shown with the camera aligned vertically. It is described as having a 6.1-inch display with an aluminum and glass body, with an action button on the side.

A 48-megapixel camera capable of recording video for Apple Vision Pro is also said to be included, as is the A18 chip and a USB-C port.

Another image showing the back of the iPhone 16 Pro highlights the ultra-wide-angle camera with a 48-megapixel resolution sensor. The tetraprism lens arrangement is also mentioned, along with the capabilities of the A18 Pro chip in terms of computational photography.

Two more images show group shots of the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 in different colors.

While the leak looks like typical Apple online marketing material, there is no guarantee that it is genuine. Apple is still a few weeks away from unveiling the new models, and Apple places a high value on secrecy, even with hardware like the iPhone.

While many of the specs mentioned seem plausible and have been mentioned in previous rumors, that doesn't mean the images are real. Anyone who can pull some renders of iPhones from previous reports can create their own marketing materials and present them as real.

Furthermore, there is no real track record of the leaker when it comes to Apple products. If there was a story, there would be a bit more provenance for the images.

As always, there is no guarantee that any rumors or leaks are true until Apple officially launches its new products.

From the looks of it, this shows what kind of rumors you can expect to see on social media in the coming weeks.

Update August 20, 1:28 p.m. EDT: As evidence of the questionable nature of the leak, it has since been discovered that the image of the collection of iPhone 16 Pro devices was previously broadcast by AppleTrack.
