‘Spectacular’ video of jumping dolphins off the coast of San Diego goes viral

A local television station reported that a whale watching company's stunning footage of several bottlenose dolphins jumping high above the water's surface off the coast of San Diego went viral on social media.

A video taken by Erica Sackrison, operator of Gone Whale Watching, captured the dolphins swimming near their boat on August 12.

As of August 20, the footage had been viewed over 7 million times.

“You could see them jump about 20 feet in the air and everyone on the boat started pointing and I thought, 'Where is everyone staring?'” Sackrison told local media.

“It almost feels like they're doing Olympic jumps, like they're all trying to be like Simone Biles and just touch the sky and come down. It was amazing,” she added.

“You know, when these things rise higher than the wheelhouse … it's spectacular,” Sackrison said.

The company regularly posts similar encounters on its Instagram page. Source: @
