Accident near Elko kills Nevada woman

SPRING CREEK, Nev. (KOLO) – A Nevada woman was killed in a traffic accident near Elko last Friday.

On August 16 at approximately 8:15 p.m., NHP troopers responded to a crash on State Route 227 near Spring Creek High School.

Their initial investigation revealed that a 2005 Jeep Liberty was traveling south on SR227, while a 2012 Toyota Tacoma was traveling north on the same highway.

The Jeep was unable to maintain its lane and veered off the right side of the road. The driver attempted to steer left, causing the Jeep to travel east across all southbound and northbound lanes.

The right front of the Jeep struck the left front of the Tacoma, and both came to rest on the shoulder of the highway. The driver of the Toyota, 61-year-old Isabel Rosas of Spring Creek, died of her injuries at the scene.

The Jeep driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
