Menace stabs NYC passenger in the neck after randomly starting fight: sources

According to police and sources, an assailant stabbed an Upper East Side passenger in the neck early Tuesday morning after randomly starting a fight with him.

A 52-year-old man was standing on the northbound 6 train platform at the corner of East 96th Street and Lexington Avenue around 3:30 a.m. when another man bumped into him and suddenly started an argument, police and other sources said.

The man then hit the victim on the neck with an “unknown object,” causing an ugly cut, police said.

He was taken to Weill Cornell Medical Center, where his condition was listed as stable.

No arrests were made during the violence and the reason for the dispute is unclear.

The attack came about 11 hours after an assailant armed with a box cutter wounded a 29-year-old man in the arm during an altercation on a train further downtown, police and sources said.

The attacker argued with the victim on a southbound 4 train at the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall station around 4:50 p.m. Monday before pulling out the gun and slashing his victim's left forearm, police and sources said.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.

The suspect, described as a man last seen wearing a white hoodie, red du-rag and black hat, fled the scene, police said.
