Man convicted in Beale Park shooting that killed man in 2020

A man accused of killing a 26-year-old man in Beale Park in 2020 was convicted of murder and related charges on Tuesday, Aug. 20, according to Kern County Superior Court records.

Records showed that 24-year-old Tyquez Shamar Baker was found guilty of first-degree murder, shooting at an occupied vehicle, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of ammunition by a non-offender.

On September 14, 2020, Baker, then 20, shot and killed Glenn Henderson Jr. in Beale Park in the Oleander neighborhood around 8 a.m., according to Bakersfield police.

The BPD said it found enough evidence linking Baker to the murder.

Baker's sentencing is scheduled for September 18, 2024, nearly four years after the fatal shooting.
