Chicago murder suspect taken into custody after days-long manhunt in Lake Barrington

Osceola Klein

Lake County authorities have arrested a Chicago murder suspect who evaded capture in the Lake Barrington area for most of the day and eventually barricaded himself in an industrial building.

A spokesman for the Lake County Sheriff's Office said 38-year-old Osceola Little is wanted in connection with a Chicago homicide and led police on a chase that ended early Tuesday near Route 14 and Pepper Road in Lake Barrington.

Police finally arrested Little in an industrial building on Tuesday evening. Little eventually surrendered without incident, authorities said.

Barrington Area Unit District 220 informed families on Tuesday that schools were closed due to police activity.

The district said it would place schools into “secure buildings and teach” mode if a police situation occurred outside the buildings.

“Access to these buildings is also currently prohibited,” the message said. “All students and staff are safe and classes will continue as usual.”

The release of students at the end of the school day was not affected by the curfew.
