At the time of writing this article, the X app does not provide a direct way to download videos, but some third-party apps allow you to do so.

One of the easiest ways to get clips from X is Twitter Video Downloader:

  1. Go to twittervideodownloader.com via the web browser of your PC or Mac.
  2. Then copy the link of the X message or tweet that contains the video you want.
  3. Paste it on the Twitter Video Downloader site and select your preferred video resolution.
  4. Then click on the Download button to open a new tab with the video you selected.
  5. Right-click on the video or click the three-dot button.
  6. Then click on “Save it to your computer“-Option.
  7. Wait until your computer has completed the download.

Your new video should be in your computer's download folder. Note that these sites may stop working if X updates its social media platform. Also, beware of malware or viruses when using downloader sites.

How to Download Videos from X on Android and iOS

Android users can download videos from X using the app “Video Downloader for Twitter”. Here’s how it works:

  1. Download and install Video Downloader for Twitter in the Google Play Store.
  2. Then open the X-post or tweet with the desired video.
  3. Tap the Share buttonwhich looks like three points connected by lines.
  4. Select the Copy link Option.
  5. Next, open the Video Downloader for Twitter app, which will prompt you to download the video automatically.
  6. Tap the Download button to save the clip.

You'll find your new video in the Videos folder. If you're using an iPhone, you're in luck because the built-in Safari web browser allows you to download videos from X. Lifehacker recommends the following steps:

  1. Open the X app and tap the X posts you want. share Button.
  2. Then tap the Copy link Button.
  3. Paste the link into the address bar of the Safari app.
  4. Tap the three-dot icon and then select the Save to files Option.
  5. Next, name your video and select the Save Option.

You'll find your new downloads in the Files app. Again, be careful of viruses and malware when using download sites. Remember that you may encounter errors due to X upgrades.
