Jonesboro Youth Shooting Sports Day announced during City Council meeting

JONESBORO, Arkansas (KAIT) – It wasn't just business as usual in the Jonesboro City Council chambers Tuesday night.

Mayor Harold Copenhaver declared August 20th as Jonesboro Youth Shooting Sports Day in honor of the Jonesboro Trap Team.

“I hereby, on behalf of Harold Copenhaver, Mayor of the City of Jonesboro, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the laws of the State of Arkansas, proclaim this day as Jonesboro Youth Shooting Sports Day,” the mayor said. “I want to congratulate you on your accomplishments and wish you continued success. You represent our city well. Thank you, job well done.”

The proclamation came after the Jonesboro Trap team competed in the Grand National Trapshooting Tournament in Sparta, Illinois, earning several top-three finishes.

They took part in clay pigeon shooting, skeet shooting, handicap doubles and singles.
