Milwaukee woman allegedly shot 14-year-old boy

Milwaukee County prosecutors charged a woman Tuesday in connection with a shooting that killed a 14-year-old. Zariah Johnson, 22, is charged with first-degree manslaughter in connection with the death of Alijah Golden-Richmond. Golden-Richmond was shot and killed Thursday near 39th and Vliet streets. Milwaukee police trace markers indicated the locations of bullet casings scattered across 39th Street Thursday afternoon. WISN 12 News spoke with Golden-Richmond's heartbroken loved ones Friday. “He was actually over there with his friends. So I don't know what happened,” said Amorsteen Zeqiri, the boy's grandmother. According to the criminal complaint, police questioned a friend of Golden-Richmond who was with him that day. The friend said Golden-Richmond “wanted to steal a car,” so they walked past 37th Street School, smashed a car window and ran. Investigators said during an interview, Johnson initially blamed the shooting on a man. When police informed her that a witness said the shooter was a woman and her mother told police she was the shooter, “she started crying and said she didn't mean to kill anyone, she just wanted to 'scare' them.” Johnson told police the car belonged to her sister. She said she armed herself with her mother's black handgun and drove around looking for the people who broke into the car. Johnson admitted to opening fire on a group of four pedestrians. One of the shots hit Golden-Richmond in the back. He died in the hospital. Johnson told police she went home after hearing several shots and watched a Facebook livestream from the scene. She said she learned from the livestream that the shooting was fatal. Johnson's first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.
