Government job creation continues in July

The job posting boom in California is now in its 51st month. Authorities announced that 21,100 new jobs were created in July. The number of jobs in the fast-food sector also continued to rise, exceeding the 750,000 mark for the first time in California's history.

“Our steady and consistent job growth over the past few months underscores the strength of California's economy – still the fifth largest in the world. This year alone, the state has added 126,500 jobs – solid growth by any measure,” noted Governor Gavin Newsom.

According to July data, California added 284,400 jobs over the past 12 months, an increase of 1.6 percent. The state's unemployment rate remained stable at 5.2 percent. Four of the state's 11 industries added jobs last month.

California is home to the most Fortune 500 companies – beating Texas, Florida and all other states. Travel spending reached an all-time high of $150.4 billion. In addition, leading the next generation, California is home to 35 of the world's top 50 AI companies, influential research and education institutions and a quarter of all patents and conference papers related to the technology.

California currently ranks first in the nation in several job-related categories, including business startups, access to venture capital, manufacturing, advanced technology and agriculture.
